Control and Decontrol: Your Cycle in Creating Art

Most artists would claim that their work is “alive” even if they cannot completely explain their thought process or planning in making your art. Some artists just choose to do art on a whim; without any planning, they express their first thought in the first abstract method they can think of. Some are systematic; they will choose the kind of instruments, colors and hues they need for their art form.

The human mind is a powerful tool that enables them to surpass the intellect of animals physically better-equipped by nature. This intellect allows them to outsmart and control. However, when one tries to control everything, one develops no meaning. Instead, one tries to create a meaning that could not be formed not without a localized context.

A localised context is when you align yourself with your surroundings. A son in a family is the male child in the family. Without a family, the child is not a son, but only a male child. To create meaning, one must allow one’s self to decontrol, to lose all faculty of reason and dive into something.

When one recovers from decontrol, this is where he or she starts to realize his or her feelings and emotions about what previously happened. Realization brings about understanding and then the proper method of expression.

To create fine, honest and expressive art, one must understand that the creativity process cannot be controlled. Instead, it should be left alone and given time to grow itself. Good things are never easy.
